Energy Saving Tips... - Have a licensed HVAC contractor evaluate your heating/cooling system and perform routine maintenance inspection twice a year (spring and fall recommended).
- An inspection performed by a licensed HVAC contractor will help to identify any potential problems that may keep your system from operating at peak performance.
- If any problems are identified during the maintenance inspection, the technician will recommend repairs. Having these repairs made at that time can save you time and money, especially during the busy summer months.
- The duct system will be checked as well for any air loss/leaks to assure that the air you are paying to cool is actually making it through your register's and into your home.
- Always follow manufacturer's maintenance instructions between routine maintenance appointments.
- Keep the air filter(s) clean! In the Phoenix area during the long, hot summer, filter(s) need to be changed every 30 days. If they are the washable kind, they need to be removed and washed with mild soap and warm water and allowed to dry completely before replacing every 30 days.
- If your HVAC system is running, keep doors and window's closed.
- Check for any gaps that may allow air from outside to get in and keep controled air inside! Using caulk and weather stripping will help to close these gaps.
- Use major appliances (oven, clothes dryer, dish washer, etc.) during the cooler times of the day during the summer months and the warmer times of the day in the winter. Check with your utility company to see if they offer any energy savings plans. APS www.aps.com SRP www.srpnet.com
